How and where to pay

Duty stamps (kolky) were abolished as of 1 January 2025. You pay the fee in cash or by card at the office, by bank transfer, or via the payment gateway when filing online.

Two rules that save money:

  • 20 % discount for electronic filing — from 1,000 Kč down to 800 Kč.
  • You pay only once — even if you notify several trades at the same time.

How much you pay in practice

Registering a trade for the very first time — whether it is an unqualified trade (živnost volná), a craft trade, a regulated trade, or a permit (concession) trade, the same entry rate of 1,000 Kč (800 Kč electronically) always applies.

Extending your unqualified trade with another field of activity (for example, you already run a retail business and want to add wholesale) — this is the same trade, just another field under Annex No. 4, so you pay nothing.

Registering an entirely new trade alongside your existing one (for example, adding a craft trade to your existing unqualified trade) — this is a further, separate notification, costing 500 Kč (400 Kč electronically).

Registering several trades at once (say, two craft trades when you first enter business) — you pay only once, at the highest rate applied.

Where the fee actually goes

You pay directly to the trade licensing office (živnostenský úřad) handling your notification — not to the tax office or any other authority. If paying by bank transfer, ask the office for its account number and variable symbol; the office usually issues the extract with your IČO only once the payment is credited.

Frequently asked questions about fees

How much does the first trade cost?
1,000 Kč, or 800 Kč when filing electronically.
Is a separate fee paid for each trade?
No. If you notify several trades at the same time, you pay only one fee, at the highest rate.
Can I still pay with duty stamps?
No, duty stamps (kolky) have not been in use since 1 January 2025. Payment is made in cash, by card, by bank transfer, or via the payment gateway.
Do I pay every time I extend my unqualified trade with another field?
No, extending a field of activity within an unqualified trade (živnost volná, Annex No. 4) is free — the fee applies only to a new, separate trade notification.
When do I pay the fee — right when I file, or only after the extract is issued?
Usually when filing, or immediately afterwards; for electronic filing you pay via the payment gateway before submitting, for in-person filing you pay on the spot in cash or by card.
Is there a separate fee for a responsible representative (odpovědný zástupce)?
Not for a notification-based trade (unqualified, craft, or regulated) — appointing or changing a responsible representative is free. For a permit (concession) trade, approving the responsible representative costs 500 Kč.
